प्र वे॒धसे॑ क॒वये॒ वेद्या॑य॒ गिरं॑ भरे य॒शसे॑ पू॒र्व्याय॑। घृ॒तप्र॑सत्तो॒ असु॑रः सु॒शेवो॑ रा॒यो ध॒र्ता ध॒रुणो॒ वस्वो॑ अ॒ग्निः ॥१॥
pra vedhase kavaye vedyāya giram bhare yaśase pūrvyāya | ghṛtaprasatto asuraḥ suśevo rāyo dhartā dharuṇo vasvo agniḥ ||
प्र। वे॒धसे॑। क॒वये॑। वेद्या॑य। गिर॑म्। भ॒रे॒। य॒शसे॑। पू॒र्व्याय॑। घृ॒तऽप्र॑सत्तः। असु॑रः। सु॒ऽशेवः॑। रा॒यः। ध॒र्ता। ध॒रुणः॑। वस्वः॑। अ॒ग्निः ॥१॥

अब पाँच ऋचावाले पन्द्रहवें सूक्त का आरम्भ है, उसके प्रथम मन्त्र में विद्वान् और अग्निगुणविषय को कहते हैं ॥

अथ विद्वदग्निगुणविषयमाह ॥
हे विद्वांसो ! यथा मया घृतप्रसत्तोऽसुरः सुशेवो रायो धर्त्ता वस्वो धरुणोऽग्निर्ध्रियते तद्बोधाय कवये वेद्याय यशसे पूर्व्याय वेधसे गिरं प्र भरे तथा यूयमप्येनमेतदर्थं धरत ॥१॥

The attributes of the enlightened persons and fire are told.
O learned persons! as I hold this purifying fire which is kindled with ghee, gives happiness to the Pranas, good delight, upholds the wealth, and sustains the earth and other things. So far getting its true knowledge; I utter words of praise to a scholar, who is worthy of being known, admirable, and having received education from experienced and enlightened persons are extremely wise. In the same manner, you should also support him for the above purpose.
