अब अग्नि कैसा है, इस विषय को कहते हैं ॥
पदार्थान्वयभाषाः - हे विद्वान् जनो ! जो (दिवोदासस्य) प्रकाश के देनेवाले का (भारतः) धारण करने वा पोषण करने और (वृत्रहा) मेघ को नाश करनेवाला (पुरुचेतनः) बहुत चेतन जिसमें वह (सत्पतिः) श्रेष्ठ स्वामी (अग्निः) अग्नि के सदृश तेजस्वी सूर्य्य (आ, अगामि) प्राप्त किया जाता है, उसका हम लोग सेवन करें ॥१९॥
भावार्थभाषाः - जैसे इस देह में साधन और उपसाधनों के सहित जीव बहुत कर्म्मों को करता है, वैसे ही विद्वान् सम्पूर्ण कर्म्मों को सिद्ध करता है ॥१९॥

पदार्थान्वयभाषाः - [१] (अग्निः) = वह अग्रेणी प्रभु (आ अगामि) = स्तुतियों के द्वारा हमारे से जाना जाता है। जो अग्नि (भारतः) = सबका भरण करनेवाला है, (दिवोदासस्य वृत्रहा) = ज्ञान के उपासक पुरुष के वृत्र का विनाश करनेवाला है। जब हम स्वाध्याय के द्वारा ज्ञान को प्राप्त करने में प्रवृत्त होते हैं, तो प्रभु हमारे वासनारूप शत्रुओं को नष्ट करते हैं। (पुरुचेतनः) = अनन्त ज्ञानवाले वे प्रभु हैं । [२] ये प्रभु (सत्पतिः) = सज्जनों के रक्षक हैं। प्रभु का स्तवन ही हमारे जीवनों में सज्जनता का कारण बनता है।
भावार्थभाषाः - भावार्थ- प्रभु-स्तवन के होने पर प्रभु हमारे शरीरों का भरण करते हैं, मानस वासनाओं का विनाश करते हैं और हमारे ज्ञान का वर्धन करते हैं ।

अन्वय:
हे विद्वांसो ! यो दिवोदासस्य भारतो वृत्रहा पुरुचेतनः सत्पतिरग्निः सूर्य्य आऽगामि तं वयं सेवेमहि ॥१९॥
पदार्थान्वयभाषाः - (आ) समन्तात् (अग्निः) अग्निरिव तेजस्वी (अगामि) गम्यते (भारतः) धर्ता पोषको वा (वृत्रहा) यो वृत्रं हन्ति सः (पुरुचेतनः) बहवश्चेतना यस्मिन् (दिवोदासस्य) प्रकाशदातुः (सत्पतिः) ॥१९॥
भावार्थभाषाः - यथाऽस्मिन् देहे साधनोपसाधनैः सहितो जीवो बहूनि कर्म्माणि करोति तथैव विद्वानखिलानि कर्म्माणि साध्नोति ॥१९॥

The character of Agni is told.
अन्वय:
O highly learned persons! let us serve that great enlightened leader who is the good protector or the giver of light (of knowledge and truth), upholder or supporter, destroyer of all sins, and who has under his instruction (command) or. guidance, many good persons, full of splendor like Agni (fire or sun).
भावार्थभाषाः - As the soul in this body can do many works (wonders.) with the help of many means-senses, mind and intellect, etc. so an enlightened person can also accomplish all works.
टिप्पणी: It is wrong (not reasonable) on the part of Sayanacharya to take the word as the name of a particular king and say दिवोदासस्य एतत् संज्ञस्य राज्ञः. It is against the fundamental (etymological) principles of the Vedic terminology as earlier pointed out and explained by him in his preliminary Introduction to his Commentary on the Rigveda. This self- contradiction does not behoove a scholar like Sayancharya. Prof. Wilson and Griffith have committed the same mistake. But while as Sayancharya has explained भारत: as हविषा भर्ता Bearer of oblations, Griffith has taken it to mean “The especial protector of the Bharata which is worse than Sayanacharya or Wilson's अथोयदेवैष(अग्नि:) देवेभ्यो हव्यं भरति तस्माद् भारतः (जैमिनोपोः 3-62) । So Dayananda Sarasvati's interpretation is quite correct and supported by the authority of the Jaiminiyopanishad Brahmana.
