मि॒त्रो अ॒ग्निर्भ॑वति॒ यत्समि॑द्धो मि॒त्रो होता॒ वरु॑णो जा॒तवे॑दाः। मि॒त्रो अ॑ध्व॒र्युरि॑षि॒रो दमू॑ना मि॒त्रः सिन्धू॑नामु॒त पर्व॑तानाम्॥
mitro agnir bhavati yat samiddho mitro hotā varuṇo jātavedāḥ | mitro adhvaryur iṣiro damūnā mitraḥ sindhūnām uta parvatānām ||
मि॒त्रः। अ॒ग्निः। भ॒व॒ति॒। यत्। सम्ऽइ॑द्धः। मि॒त्रः। होता॑। वरु॑णः। जा॒तऽवे॑दाः। मि॒त्रः। अ॒ध्व॒र्युः। इ॒षि॒रः। दमू॑नाः। मि॒त्रः। सिन्धू॑नाम्। उ॒त। पर्व॑तानाम्॥

हे मनुष्या यद्यस्सिन्धूनामुत पर्वतानां समिद्धोऽग्निरिव मित्रो होतेव मित्रो जातवेदा इव वरुणोऽध्वर्य्युरिव मित्र इषिरो दमूना इव मित्रो भवति तं सत्कुरुत ॥४॥

God is the friend of the seas and the mountains (or the people living on the shore of the seas and hills for meditation and communion ). He is the friend and benevolent like kindled fire. He is a friend like the performer of the Yajnas. He is Omniscient and is the Best. Moreover, devotee of God should also be respected who is a friend like a non-violent person, who is well wisher of all and is a friend like a man of self-control.
