फिर उसी विषय को कहते हैं।
Word-Meaning: - हे सब विद्वानो ! जो (वः) तुम्हारा (अयम्) यह (शुनहोत्रेषु) विद्वान् वृद्धों के दानों में (तीव्रः) तीक्ष्ण (मधुमान्) विज्ञानसम्बन्धी (मत्सरः) आनन्द है (एतम्) इस (काम्यम्) मनोहर रस को तुम (पिबत) पिओ ॥१४॥
Connotation: - जो विज्ञान वृद्धों की सेवा करते हैं, वे तीव्रबुद्धि हुए विद्वान् होते हैं ॥१४॥

शुनहोत्र
Word-Meaning: - १. सब देव सोम का पान करते हैं- वीर्य का अपने में ही रक्षण करते हैं। वस्तुतः इस सोमरक्षण के अनुपात में ही उनमें दिव्यता की उत्पत्ति होती है । हे देवो! (वः) = तुम्हारा (अयम्) = यह सोम (तीव्रः) = बड़ा तीव्र है- तुम्हें तेजस्वी बनानेवाला है- तुम्हारे शत्रुओं के लिए भयंकर है। परन्तु साथ ही यह मधुमान् है- अत्यन्त माधुर्यवाला है - जीवन को मधुर बनाता है। तेजस्विता व मधुमान् मधुरता का इनके द्वारा समन्वय होता है। २. शुन-होत्रेषु - (शुन गतौ) क्रियाशील (हु दाने) व दानशील पुरुषों में यह (मत्सरः) = हर्ष का संचार करनेवाला है। क्रियाशील - पुरुष ही वासनाओं से बचकर सोम का रक्षण कर पाता है। दानशीलता उसे भोगवृत्ति से बचाती है और इस प्रकार यह वीर्य के विनाश से बचा रहता है। एतम्-इस काम्यम्-अत्यन्त कमनीय, सुन्दर व चाहने योग्य सोम को पिबत पीनेवाले बनो। इसे शरीर में ही सुरक्षित करो। रक्षित हुआ हुआ यह तुम्हें 'तेजस्वी, मधुर व प्रसन्न' बनाएगा।
Connotation: - भावार्थ – क्रियाशील व दानशील पुरुष ही सोम का रक्षण कर पाते हैं। यह सुरक्षित सोम उन्हें 'तेजस्वी, मधुर व आनन्दमय' बनाता है।

Anvay:
हे विश्वेदेवा यो वोऽयं शुनहोत्रेषु तीव्रो मधुमान् मत्सरोऽस्ति एतं काम्यं यूयं पिबत ॥१४॥
Word-Meaning: - (तीव्रः) तीक्ष्णः (वः) युष्माकम् (मधुमान्) विज्ञानसम्बन्धी (अयम्) (शुनहोत्रेषु) शुनानां विज्ञानवृद्धानां होत्रेषु दानेषु (मत्सरः) आनन्दः (एतम्) (पिबत) (काम्यम्) कमनीयं रसम् ॥१४॥
Connotation: - ये विज्ञानवृद्धान् सेवन्ते ते तीव्रबुद्धयस्सन्तो विद्वाँसो जायन्ते ॥१४॥

Anvay:
O all the learned persons ! taking it as a gift by the experienced wiseman, you drink juice of this great Bliss which is sharp, sweet and desirable and scientifically prepared.
Word-Meaning: - N/A
Connotation: - Those who serve the experienced enlightened and wise persons, they become highly intelligent and learned men.
Footnote: शुनम् is from (टुओ शिव ) गतिवृढ्योः । गतेस्त्रयोऽर्था::- ज्ञान गमनं प्राप्तिश्च। Both the meanings of the verb have been taken here by the commentator. होत्नम् is from हु – दनादनयोः आदाने च । Here the first meaning of दान or donation ( gift ) has been taken. It was not correct on the part of Shri Sayanacharya, Prof. Wilson and Griffith to take the word शुन होत्रेषु used in the mantra as a Proper Noun and interpret it as शुन होत्रेषु गृत्समदेध्वस्मासु (सायणाचार्य:) Among the Shounahotras, the family of which Gritsamada-the Rishi of the hymn was a member (Griffith's foot-note Vol. 1, P. 311 ) मधुमान् is generally translated as sweet. But as the word मधु is derived from मन्– ज्ञाने ( दिवा० ) मनेर्धश्छन्दसि । (उणादि 2, 117 ), Rishi Dayananda Sarasvati had translated it related to the science or scientific.
