अब ऋतुओं के साथ विद्युत् अग्नि क्या करता है, इस विषय का उपदेश अगले मन्त्र में किया है-
Word-Meaning: - यह (नेष्टः) शुद्धि और पुष्टि आदि हेतुओं से सब पदार्थों का प्रकाश करनेवाली बिजुली (ऋतुना) ऋतुओं के साथ रसों को (पिब) पीती है तथा (हि) जिस कारण (रत्नधाः) उत्तम पदार्थों की धारण करनेवाली (असि) है, (त्वम्) सो यह (ग्नावः) सब पदार्थों की प्राप्ति करानेहारी (नः) हमारे इस (यज्ञम्) यज्ञ को (अभिगृणीहि) सब प्रकार से ग्रहण करती है, इसलिये तुम लोग इससे सब कार्य्यों को सिद्ध करो॥३॥
Connotation: - यह जो बिजुली अग्नि की सूक्ष्म अवस्था है, सो सब स्थूल पदार्थों के अवयवों में व्याप्त होकर उनको धारण और छेदन करती है, इसी से यह प्रत्यक्ष अग्नि उत्पन्न होके उसी में विलीन हो जाता है॥३॥

नेष्टा का सोमपान
Word-Meaning: - १. 'ग्ना' शब्द छन्दों का वाचक है - 'छन्दाँसि वै ग्नाः छन्दोभिर्हि स्वर्ग लोकं गच्छन्ति' [शत० ५/५/४/७] । इन छन्दोंवाला ग्नावा है । उसे सम्बोधित करते हुए कहते हैं कि (ग्नावः) - हे ज्ञान की वाणियोंवाले विद्वन् ! (नः) - हमें (यज्ञम् अभि) - यज्ञ का लक्ष्य करके (गृणीहि) - उपदेश दीजिए । हमारा जीवन यज्ञमय होगा तो हम विलास के मार्ग में न जाकर इस सोम के रक्षण के लिए अधिक समर्थ होंगे ।
२. हे (नेष्टः) [नेनेक्ति] - जीवन को शुद्ध करनेवाले विद्वन्! (ऋतुना) - समय रहते (पिब) - तू सोम का पान करनेवाला बन ।
३. हे नेष्टः ! (त्वम्) - तू (हि) - निश्चय से (रत्नधा असि) - रमणीय पदार्थों का धारण करनेवाला है । सोम के रक्षण से शरीर अत्यन्त रमणीय बन जाता है । नीरोगता , निर्मलता और बुद्धि की तीव्रता , ये सब - के - सब सोमरक्षण से ही साध्य होते हैं । इस सोमरक्षण के लिए यह अपने जीवन को यज्ञ की ओर ले - चलता है , वेदवाणियों का अध्ययन करता है , जीवन को शुद्ध बनाता है ।
Connotation: - भावार्थ - हम यज्ञशील बनें , जीवन के शोधन के लिए समय रहते सोमपान करनेवाले बनें और इस प्रकार जीवन को रमणीय बनाएँ ।

अथर्तुना सह विद्युत् किं करोतीत्युपदिश्यते।
Anvay:
हे विद्वन् ! यत इयं नेष्टर्नेष्ट्रीविद्युदृतुना सह रसान् पिब पिबति रत्नधा अस्यस्ति सा ग्नावो ग्नावती न इमं यज्ञमभिगृणीहि गृणाति। तस्मात्त्वमेतया कार्य्याणि साधय॥३॥
Word-Meaning: - (अभि) आभिमुख्ये (यज्ञम्) सङ्गम्यमानं पूर्वोक्तम् (गृणीहि) गृणाति स्तुतिहेतुर्भवति। अत्र व्यत्ययो लडर्थे लोट् च। (नः) अस्माकम् (ग्नावः) सर्वपदार्थप्राप्तिर्यस्य व्यवहारे। ग्ना इति उत्तरपदनामसु पठितम्। (निघं०३.२९) (नेष्टः) विद्युत् पदार्थशोधकत्वात्पोषकत्वाच्च नेनेक्ति सर्वान् पदार्थानिति। नप्तृनेष्टृ० (उणा०२.९६) अनेन निपातनम् (पिब) पिबति। अत्र व्यत्ययो लडर्थे लोट् च। (ऋतुना) ऋतुभिः सह (त्वम्) सोऽयम् (हि) यतः (रत्नधाः) रत्नानि रमणार्थानि पृथिव्यादीनि वस्तूनि दधातीति सः (असि) अत्र व्यत्ययः॥३॥
Connotation: - इयं विद्युदग्नेः सूक्ष्मावस्था वर्त्तते, सा सर्वान् मूर्त्तद्रव्यसमूहावयवानभिव्याप्य धरति छिनत्ति वाऽतएव चाक्षुषोऽग्निः प्रादुर्भवत्यत्रैवान्तर्दधाति चेति॥३॥

Word-Meaning: - Electricity, purifier of everything, generous giver of things, receive and appraise the fragrance of our yajna, drink the sweets of it according to the seasons and give us the jewels, treasure of jewels as you are.

Now what does electricity do with seasons is taught in the third Mantra.
Anvay:
O learned man! because this electricity purifies all things, takes the sap with seasons and is the upholder of the earth etc. which are meant for proper legitimate enjoyment, so it is praised in our Yajnas or noble philanthropic activities; you should therefore accomplish various works, utilizing it properly.
Word-Meaning: - (ग्नाव:) सर्व पदार्थप्राप्तिर्यस्य व्यवहारे ग्ना इति उत्तर पदनामसु पठितम् (निघ० ३.१६ ) (नेष्ट:) विद्युत् पदार्थशोधकत्वात् पोषकत्वाच नेक्ति सर्वान् पदार्थान् इति । (रत्नधाः) रत्नानि रमणार्थानि पृथिव्यादीनि वस्तूनि दधातीति सः ।
Connotation: - This electricity is the subtle form of fire. It pervades and upholds all the particles or gross forms and disintegrates them. The visible fire is originated from it and dissolves in it at the end.
Footnote: Rishi Dayananda has interpreted नेष्ट: as विद्युत् or electricity. It is derived from णिजिर-शौचपोषणयोः Purification and nourishment. As electricity possesses these properties, it is called as neshtree. Sayanacharya takes it as the name of Twashta त्वष्टा नेष्टृ शब्दोऽत्रत्वष्टारं देवमाह । कस्मिंश्चिद् देवसत्रे नेष्टृत्वेन त्वण्टुवृर्तत्वात् ॥ which Prof. Wilson translates in his foot-note as "Neshtri is another name of Twastri, from his having assumed, it is said, upon some occasion, the function of the Neshtri, or priest so denominated, at a sacrifice.” Griffith also gives the same note saying "Neshtri is said to be another name for the God Twashtar from his having on some occasion assumed the function of a Neshtar priest." All these translators take Neshtar to be the name of some "God" who is addressed here to come with his wife and drink the Soma Juice ग्नाव: has been translated by Sayanacharya as पत्नी युक्त which Wilson translates as “Neshtra, with thy spouse, commend our sacrifice to the gods. etc. Griffith also commits the same blunder by translating it as “O Neshtar, with thy Dame accept our sacrifice" etc. So it is not Omnipresent Formless God that they mean by Twashta which is certainly one of the names of God as Creator of the world, but some God with his wife and children in the heaven. What a wrong notion about the Vedic conception of God ?"
