च॒त्वार॑ ईं बिभ्रति क्षेम॒यन्तो॒ दश॒ गर्भं॑ च॒रसे॑ धापयन्ते। त्रि॒धात॑वः पर॒मा अ॑स्य॒ गावो॑ दि॒वश्च॑रन्ति॒ परि॑ स॒द्यो अन्ता॑न् ॥४॥
catvāra īm bibhrati kṣemayanto daśa garbhaṁ carase dhāpayante | tridhātavaḥ paramā asya gāvo divaś caranti pari sadyo antān ||
च॒त्वा॑रः। ई॒म्। बि॒भ्र॒ति॒। क्षे॒म॒ऽयन्तः॑। दश॑। गर्भ॑म्। च॒रसे॑। धा॒प॒य॒न्ते॒। त्रि॒ऽधात॑वः। प॒र॒माः। अ॒स्य॒। गावः॑। दि॒वः। च॒र॒न्ति॒। परि॑। स॒द्यः। अन्ता॑न् ॥४॥
स्वामी दयानन्द सरस्वती
मनुष्यों को चाहिये कि पृथिवी आदि तत्त्व जगत् के पालक हैं, ऐसा जानें, इस विषय को अगले मन्त्र में कहते हैं ॥

मनुष्यैः पृथिव्यादीनि तत्वानि जगत्पालनानि सन्तीति वेद्यमित्याह ॥४॥
हे मनुष्या ! अस्य जगतो मध्ये चरसे क्षेमयन्तः परमास्त्रिधातवश्चत्वार ईं गर्भं बिभ्रति दश धापयन्ते सद्यो दिवोऽन्तान् गावः परि चरन्तीति वि जानीत ॥४॥

Significance of the earth etc. as the sustainers of the world is highlighted.
O men ! you should know that there are four great elements (earth, water, fire and air) which have three gunas-Satva, Rajas and Tamas-as their contents, which uphold the embryo of the whole universe and preserve it for movement. They uphold it in ten directions. The rays of the sun reverse the boundaries of the sky and the regions closely and swiftly.
