तपो॒ ष्व॑ग्ने॒ अन्त॑राँ अ॒मित्रा॒न् तपा॒ शंस॒मर॑रुषः॒ पर॑स्य। तपो॑ वसो चिकिता॒नो अ॒चित्ता॒न्वि ते॑ तिष्ठन्ताम॒जरा॑ अ॒यासः॑॥
tapo ṣv agne antarām̐ amitrān tapā śaṁsam araruṣaḥ parasya | tapo vaso cikitāno acittān vi te tiṣṭhantām ajarā ayāsaḥ ||
तपो॒ इति॑। सु। अ॒ग्ने॒। अन्त॑रान्। अ॒मित्रा॑न्। तप॑। शंस॑म्। अर॑रुषः। पर॑स्य। तपो॒ इति॑। व॒सो॒ इति॑। चि॒कि॒ता॒नः। अ॒चित्ता॑न्। वि। ते॒। ति॒ष्ठ॒न्ता॒म्। अ॒जराः॑। अ॒यासः॑॥

फिर उसी विषय को अगले मन्त्र में कहा है।

पुनस्तमेव विषयमाह।
हे तपोऽग्ने त्वमन्तरानमित्रान्सुतप। अररुषः परस्य शंसं विधेहि। हे तपो वसो चिकितानस्त्वमचित्तान् बोधय। एतेऽजरा अयासस्ते समीपे वितिष्ठन्ताम् ॥२॥

The behavior and appearances of the enlightened persons.
O ascetic ! O eradicators of the evils like the fire ! give punishment to those who are wicked foes, but always admire a person who is noble and non-violent. O burner of the wicked and virtuous leader! being blessed with true knowledge, you instruct those who are devoid of that knowledge and are therefore in a degraded condition. May the enlightened persons who are free from premature old age and diseases be close to you.
