द्यौश्चि॑द॒स्याम॑वाँ॒ अहेः॑ स्व॒नादयो॑यवीद्भि॒यसा॒ वज्र॑ इन्द्र ते। वृ॒त्रस्य॒ यद्ब॑द्बधा॒नस्य॑ रोदसी॒ मदे॑ सु॒तस्य॒ शव॒साभि॑न॒च्छिरः॑ ॥
dyauś cid asyāmavām̐ aheḥ svanād ayoyavīd bhiyasā vajra indra te | vṛtrasya yad badbadhānasya rodasī made sutasya śavasābhinac chiraḥ ||
द्यौः। चि॒त्। अ॒स्य॒। अम॑ऽवान्। अहेः॑। स्व॒नात्। अयो॑यवीत्। भि॒यसा॑। वज्रः॑। इ॒न्द्र॒। ते॒। वृ॒त्रस्य॑। यत्। ब॒द्ब॒धा॒नस्य॑। रो॒द॒सी॒ इति॑। मदे॑। सु॒तस्य॑। शव॑सा। अभि॑नत्। शिरः॑ ॥

पुनः स किं कुर्यादित्युपदिश्यते ॥
हे सेनेश ! यद्यस्य ते तवास्य सूर्यस्य द्यौरहेर्बद्बधानस्य सुतस्य वृत्रस्यावयवानयोयवीच्चिदिवामवान् वज्रो यस्य शवसा स्वनादरयः पलायन्ते रोदसी इव मदे वर्त्तमानस्य शत्रोः शिरोऽभिनत् स भवानस्माकं पालको भवतु ॥ १० ॥

What should Indra do is taught further in the tenth Mantra.
O Commander of the Army, as the mighty light of the sun cuts into pieces the water of the cloud and makes it fall down on the earth, and by the sound of the lightning, the cloud trembles so to speak, in the same manner, as thou strikest off the head of a mighty foe waxing in his intoxication who is the obstructor of heaven and earth, with thy powerful weapon and with thy sound, all enemies run away, be thou our protector.
